What are all the files and folders in my home directory? Back to top

The only files you need to know about are public_html, public_ftp, public_ftp/incoming and public_html/cgi-bin all the others are NOT TO BE TOUCHED. public_html is where all your files that you want to display are uploaded to. public_ftp is your anonymous ftp directory. Users can only download from this directory the files that you place there. public_ftp/incoming is the anonymous user upload area. public_html/cgi-bin is your cgi-bin directory. Put all of your own scripts here. This is not the location of the preinstalled scripts.

Files can be transferred to the web server using an FTP program (File Transfer Protocol), such as FTP Explorer and Smart FTP.

You upload all your files to the public_html folder, your home page MUST be called index.(html / htm or php etc..).

How do I set up my email accounts. Back to top

Log into your control panel - www.YOUR DOMAIN NAME.com/cpanel by entering your username and password then configure your emails with the appropriate icons. Settings for Outlook Express etc are:

Incoming (POP3) Mail Server: mail.YOUR DOMAIN NAME.com or co.uk etc..
Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server: mail.YOUR DOMAIN NAME.com or co.uk etc..

Once your domain name has successfully resolved to our servers, you may begin to access Webmail or your POP3/SMTP mail servers using the above addresses.

When you create a new email address in cPanel, please note that you must login using the full email address of that account as its Username.

Use of our Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server requires SMTP authentication. Please be sure to activate this setting when configuring your email account in an email application such as Outlook Express or Netscape Mail.

Alternatively, you may connect to your ISP's Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server in place of ours if your ISP is blocking access to common SMTP ports or your may connect to our secondary mail server running on port 26.

If I or anyone knew how this could be done for certain then Google still wouldn't be the number Search Engine in the world.

Yes, log into www.YOUR DOMAIN NAME.com/webmail and then access your email.

What are 404 error pages? Back to top

This is a page that will appear if someone visits your website and the file no longer is available or on your website. You can add your own customised error page, we recommend you use your sitemap as this gives users a better chance of finding where to go next.

Can I check who visits my website? Back to top

Yes, simply log into your control panel www.YOUR WEBSITE.com/cpanel and click on the website stats icon to see more information on who has been visiting your website.

Can I want to add a forum? Back to top

Yes, simply log into your control panel www.YOUR WEBSITE.com/cpanel and click on the fantastico icon to view all the programmes you can install including PHPBB.
